Formatting requirements for a thesis in Poland: margins, fonts and przypisy
Margins, fonts, spacing, page numbers, przypisy dolne or APA, tables and bibliography: how to read your department’s guidelines and avoid losing marks.
Editing and formatting
In-text citations do not match the reference list, and some sources are written up in different styles. We bring the bibliography and citations into line with the standard your department requires, and check that every source in the text is in the list and vice versa.
A bibliography that looks finished can still hide many small faults: an author spelt two ways, a journal article without page numbers, a website without an access date, a source cited in chapter two but missing from the list. Promotors and reviewers often check a few entries at random, and one inconsistent page can prompt a comment on the whole thesis.
Polish universities use two broad referencing systems. Law, history and much of the humanities rely on przypisy dolne with abbreviations such as “tamże” and “op. cit.”, while psychology and many social science and economics departments prefer APA or another author–date style. Within each system, departments set their own details, so your guidelines decide.
We start by establishing which style and which edition apply, then reformat every entry and cross-check the citations in the text against the list in both directions. Where details are missing, we complete them from the publication itself; where a source cannot be verified or is not academic, we mark it so that you can decide whether to replace it.
If you used Zotero or Mendeley, mention it: generated entries often contain errors in titles, capitalisation and years, and knowing where the list came from helps us spot repeated faults quickly. The price depends on the number of sources and their state, and we quote it after seeing the file and guidelines.

We return the file with corrections and a list of problematic sources. If the guidelines do not name a style, we suggest the one most common in your department; your promotor gives final approval.
They are citations in the form of footnotes at the bottom of the page, common in the humanities in Poland. At most universities, the style is set by the department’s guidelines or your promotor.
A formatting check covers all formatting, including the bibliography as far as the guidelines go. This service goes deeper: we cross-check every citation against the text and complete missing details.
Not in this service: we work with the sources you have. If there are too few, sources for a chapter are a separate service at 70 €.
