Research and sources

Finding academic sources for a finished chapter

Your supervisor (promotor) writes “too few sources” or “outdated sources”. We find academic literature for a chapter you have already written and add citations where they are needed. The text stays yours; only the source base changes.

How to add academic sources to a thesis chapter you have written

“Za mało źródeł” and “źródła nieaktualne” are comments promotors write on many chapters. Usually the argument itself is fine, but too many paragraphs rest on one textbook, on websites or on publications that are decades old. The chapter does not need rewriting; it needs a stronger source base under the text that is already there.

We read the chapter claim by claim and mark the statements that need support: definitions, figures and statements about what research has shown. For each one we look for academic books and journal articles in Polish or English, preferring recent publications where your department asks for them, and add the citation in your style, whether that means przypisy or author–date references.

We do not rewrite paragraphs to fit a source. Where the literature says something different from your sentence, we leave a comment and you decide whether to adjust the claim. That matters, because at the defence you are the one who has to stand behind it.

The service is designed for text that already exists. If you have not started writing and need a reading list for a whole topic, a free outline with starting sources is the better first step. If the problem is the format of existing references rather than their number, the bibliography and referencing service is the better fit.

What is included

  • Analysis of which claims in the text need sources
  • Academic articles and books from available databases
  • Priority for recent publications, if your department requires it
  • In-text citations or przypisy (footnotes), following your guidelines
  • Updated reference list for the chapter
  • Notes where a source changes the meaning of a paragraph

Who it is for

  • Your promotor wants more sources in the chapter
  • You have sources, but they are old or non-academic
  • You need publications in Polish or English
  • The chapter is written, but there are almost no citations

How we work

Step 1

Send your chapter

The text, guidelines and your promotor’s comments on sources, if any.

Step 2

We find literature

We find sources for your specific claims, not a generic list.

Step 3

We return the chapter

With in-text citations and an updated bibliography; all changes are visible in track changes. The 70 € price does not depend on the number of sources found.

Questions and answers

How many sources will you add?

As many as the text needs and the guidelines require. As a guide, one chapter has 15–20 sources, but adding sources just to reach a number is not worth it.

Will I be able to access the sources?

Yes, for each one we give a bibliographic entry and, where possible, a link or DOI. That way you can check every source before your defence.

Will this affect the plagiarism check?

Correct citations distinguish quotation from borrowing, so they matter for the report. We do not promise a percentage: the result depends on your university’s system.
