Independent review of your thesis before submission

After submission, your thesis is read by a recenzent (reviewer), whose questions often come up at the obrona (defence). We read your thesis in advance and give detailed feedback: what is strong, what is weak and what you might be asked. You make the corrections yourself or order them separately.

What a recenzent looks for in a thesis, and how to check it in advance

After submission, the faculty appoints a recenzent, an academic other than your promotor, who reads the finished thesis and writes a review with a grade. Your promotor has seen the thesis grow chapter by chapter; the reviewer sees it once, as a whole, and notices what is easy to miss from close up: an aim the conclusion does not answer, a chapter that takes half the length but adds little, or a method that cannot support the claims made.

Our pre-submission review reads the thesis in the same way. A consultant in your field goes through it from start to finish and writes structured feedback: what works, what is weak, and which weaknesses matter most given the time you have left. If you only have a week, you know what to fix first.

At many universities you can read the official review in APD before the obrona, and its comments often turn into defence questions. Our feedback includes the questions a reviewer or committee member is likely to ask, which gives you time to prepare answers before you see the real review.

The feedback refers to specific pages and passages rather than giving general impressions, so each point can be checked against the text. Whether and how to act on it is your decision, and so is any conversation about it with your promotor.

Questions and answers

Is this an official review?

No. The official recenzent is appointed by the university. Our review is a consultation that helps you see the thesis through their eyes.

Will you fix the weaknesses you find?

Corrections are not included in the review. You can make them yourself or order editing or revisions separately.

Will you tell me what grade I’ll get?

No, the committee gives the grade. We tell you which parts may raise questions and comments.
